Disposal Rules

Thanks for choosing i Forgot Trash Day! We are committed to doing business the right way. That means looking after you, the person who is trusting us with service. It also means looking out for the folks doing the work, the rest of our community and the environment. In order to do that, we have some simple rules that keep everyone safe and sanitary.

The Law about Trash

Applicable Federal, State and Local laws require that you (the waste generator) dispose of your waste materials appropriately, and you will remain responsible for these materials if they are not disposed of properly. Municipal Solid Waste Landfills, such as Rumpke’s are not permitted to accept and dispose of certain types of materials, including hazardous wastes.

We follow federal and Rumpke guidelines related to allowable waste trash. You can read their policy at www.rumpke.com

Bagging and Placement
  • All trash must be bagged, all bags in a bin

  • Bins mixed with unbagged trash may not be collected. This may create a handling hazard and transportation hazard

  • Bins must placed for pickup in a public place or easement. This typically means within 5 feet of a public road

  • Drivers cannot enter your home for any reason

  • Fuels and liquids must be in a sealed and labeled container. Containers will be kept.

  • Fuels must be in an appropriate gas can style container.

Items Not Allowed

The following items are not eligible for pickup as a Trash Item. Some may be eligible for pickup as a specialty item. See local availability when ordering:

  • Hazardous wastes

  • Liquids (see below for specialty liquids such as oil, paint, gas)

  • Corrosive, flammabile, reactive, explosive, toxic or otherwise

Items You Must Separate

These items are not acceptable as trash but are acceptable as a special item. All specialty items must be labeled and separated outside the trash bin. If original labels are removed or illegible, duct tape and Sharpie are ok. We need to know what it is so it goes to the correct place and how to handle it.

  • Car Batteries (cannot be accepted with fuel pickup)

  • Electronics such as computers, TVs

Below are some basic resources covering disposal laws. Waste disposal is often subject to local, county and state rules so please contact your local waste management district with inquiries that we may not be immediately capable of answering. Generally speaking, if the material or circumstance is questionable, we would prefer not to put the haulers in your community in the situation to figure it out. You can contact us at help@iforgottrashday.com or call 513-400-4720 with inquiries.
